Now that you’ve deployed MS Exchange 2003 in your project and configured OWA, you can give users the option to change their domain passwords and you might run into a strange problem. If users need to change their passwords, they will see an “Item Required” error message after hovering over the OK button, and these passwords will not be changed. This confusing error message means that Exchange MS cannot find a suitable COM object in the registry. To solve the problem, you really need to register the “iispwchg.dll” library on the ms Exchange shared server. Complete order of actions on the market:
regsvr32% windir% system32 inetsrv iisadmpwd iispwchg.dll
I do not know why MS Exchange does not register the library automatically displayed during installation. However, I noticed that the MS Exchange installers are written in such a way that senior administrators can demonstrate their knowledge, and then their skills, “ironically”, before the MS Exchange product can fully function.

We are having conflicts where many Outlook Web App users are unable to reset their credentials.Personal passwords in OWA. (Options -> -> My Daily Account -> Change your precious password). When trying to force Windows to enter a new code but choose to keep, some people receive the following error message:
“There was a new problem while saving changes. Please try again. If the problem persists, just call support.”
This has nothing to do with password security or password history if you think they are returning the correct error: “The personal information you entered does not meet the new minimum security requirements.” – required, for example, I was able to change my password using this function, only most users cannot.
We are running on-premises Exchange 2016 version 15.1 build 1913.5 on Windows 2016 servers build 14393.3474. We have several servers.
I have made several attempts to check if my account information can be changed:
- Users who can change their unique password after their passwords expire are currently prompted for a usernameViewer on the OWA home page.
- I am doing Change the password for my test account on one of the Exchange servers with https: // localhost / owa and immediately after Settings -> General -> My Account -> Change Password.
- I’m pretty sure the password to change any test account in the browser that uses the public IP for OWA instead of our url, i.e. https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/owa versus https: // domain name / owa
The same test debts were causing URL crawl errors. I don’t see anything in the papers.
We are very concerned about this, as about a second third of our users start using OWA first and prefer to change their passwords before they expire. I’m not sure if this is a great error exchange, or an IIS error, or even a certificate error. The certificate is current and recently renewed (November 2019).
Two days ago, I contacted Microsoft support and received no response (another issue). Does anyone have any idea?
