- Two people reinstalled Office on the same computer.
- Both installations were performed with the parameter AllUsers = “” – install the installation only for setting up the user account.
- When both users were constantly prompted to delete the locally copied files after both had finished installing, the files were not minimized.
- One of the two users uninstalled Office.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, run Office Setup. To do this, follow these steps:
- Insert the specific Microsoft Office 2003 CD into your home CD or DVD drive.
- If the installation does not start, locate the Setup.exe file on the CD, and then double-click the document to start the installation.
- Once the configuration window appears, cancel the configuration, then follow the instructions to exit the configuration. Minutes

Error 25090 Office Setup encountered a problem with the Office Source Engine, plan error -2147023836. After doing a little research, I figured out why this problem occurs. Apparently, the two people purchased installed Office on the same personal computer, and one of them later uninstalled it.
