But it doesn’t look like Windows Server 2008 R2. Is it different?

This article describes how to enable Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) access on your network.

    Overview

By default, Network DTC access is literally disabled for the Windows 2002 server products mentioned in the mainSee the “Applies to” section. Even if you do not enable access to the DTC network through the server, applications will only be able to use transactions that remain on the national computer. For example, transactions cannot be transferred from the local machine to a database running on the failed machine if access to the DTC network is permanently disabled.

If DTC network access is disabled, clients attempting to access the DTC server will receive the following error message:

In particular, operations performed on SQL Server using a SQL adapter channel (via BizTalk Server, the WCF service model, or otherwise the WCF model) can be performed within a transaction. If the software client has multiple transactional resources allocated as part of the same transaction, the transaction can be promoted to an MSDTC transaction. To enable the Adapter-to-Operations feature as part of an MSDTC transaction, it is often necessary to configure MSDTC on the computer that is running the SQL Adapter and SQL Server. You also need to add msdtc to the windows firewall’s relegation list. This sector information shows how these tasks are actually performed on computers with a specific adapter client and SQL Server.
