Install VirtualDub

Download the latest version of VirtualDub from the VirtualDub download blog. The experimental versions are great! Use the exact version, 32-bit, not AMD64, to avoid problems with codecs. ^[1]

Unpack

VirtualDub to any directory. I prefer something like C: Program Files VirtualDub …

Download the LAME ACM codec (put insider list first, as of August 2010).

Extract the LAME ACM ZIP file to almost anywhere. Then download install-lame-win7-vista.zip (updated 2011-04-12, fixed Run as administrator on Windows7) and unzip it to the same directory. Run the appropriate .softball bat file ( install-lame-windows7-vista-32bit.bat for Win7 or Vista 32bit 32bit, install-lame-windows7-vista-64bit.bat for Win7 64bit or Vista 64bit) as administrator by right-clicking it and choosing Run as administrator.

The method is slightly less simple and relatively easy

You can also extract the LAME ACM ZIP file to C: lame and in this case select Start> Run … (or new media Win + R) and paste the exact line for 32 bit:

The result is the same – straight away the manual method.

Upload Files To VirtualDub Onlyand Choose Codecs

Launch VirtualDub after launching VirtualDub the.exe and launch the file by clicking File> Open (or Ctrl + O).

This is really important. If your business doesn’t do that, a minimum 10MB input could create a new 200MB video.

Go to the Video section> (or Ctrl + P to compress information) to compress the size of the video.

If you wish, you can set a new custom output quality without clicking OK in the window above, but adjusting it anyway. The better (1) suitable quality, the larger the file size. The lower the quality (31), the smaller the resulting actual file size. I usually put a good value at 4 because I understand that this is a good compromise between good quality and file size.

Configuring Audio Codec

Forgetting can lead to different results. If the sound quality of the original video is likelyHowever, already compressed (which is usually the case in video clips shot with a camcorder / phone / camera), it will remain compressed. Other videos, such as screenshots from Fraps, contain an uncompressed audio stream, which can be uncompressed space and junk.

To reduce the audio stream, select Audio> Full Processing Mode (otherwise, the audio stream will simply be copied, indicating the reason).

Now choose “Audio”> “Compression …” and select the Lame codec, cd 192 kbps or higher. Done 🙂
