  • Basically, my key to adding XP computer programs to the Windows 7/8/10 homegroup is integrating them into the workgroup of those computers. However, you will run into problems when trying to access your Windows XP computer from Windows 7/8/10 and vice versa. But don’t worry, a little fix will change everything.

    Troubleshooting Windows XP Network Issues

    The first message I encountered was when I went to My Computer, clicked on My Network Favorites, and then deselected Show Workgroup Computers. I threw the following error:

    This led me to google it and try to find many answers, including disabling the firewall, starting the computer view services, enabling NetBIOS, etc. While these items should work fine, it doesn’t trigger them. nightmare.     Troubleshooting Windows XP Network Issues

    The original problem I ran into was that I went to My Computer and then went to My Network Location, but also clicked View Workgroup Computers. I got the following error message:

    In my case, the AseemVostro laptop is a Windows 10 computer. Oddly enough, although I got this error when I clicked the View Workgroup Computers link, I was able to access the shared folders associated with my Windows 10 My Windows 10 computer logs on with the latest Microsoft account. With the username and password locked out, I entered my email address and the security system, which kicked in.

    Also, when I tried to log into XP through Windows 10, I kept trying to enter the username and password of my new local account on the XP machine, but it just didn’t work. Finally it worked after doing just two things. I first clicked on the link to set up a home network or small healthcare provider that you see in the screenshot above. I followed the wizard to make sure it shows the WORKGROUP workgroup name.
