My laptop recently became an actor’s. It sounded slow, video and audio were terribly shaky, and it seemed effective to play simple things like YouTube videos without shaking.

This consists of a series of emergency situations and kernel crashes. I am currently using the MacBook as my only development machine after another move, expecting my current iMac to come to me in a few days.

Executed memtest on 1900MB of memory when loaded in single user mode (I don’t know how best to do memtest on Mac).
Performs a disk check in Disk Utility, starting with disk installation.
OS 10.6 reinstalled, updated, etc.

None of the above is faulty or worsens the situation.

I don’t know what to do. All tips and ideas are appreciated.

Update 1:
This is also the case when en0 (ethernet interface) goes down after about an hour, ifconfig reports all confidential but self-assigned IP addresses.

Update 2:
Now I see some strange art artifacts. Black / multicolored polygons on windows of houses, etc.

Kernel panics should not be triggered by applications. This is also either a hardware problem, or a malfunction, a real malfunction of the kernel extension. In particular, third-party vendors may add bugs to extensions. To get a list of all third party extensions, you need to go to Terminal and enter the following command: ~ kextstat | grep -v com.apple .

Try removing them and see if your system stops working. If you are still experiencing crashes, it might be a hardware issue. You can try a hardware test or better, contact Apple Support.

Depending on the error, VMware Virtual Box and services are displayed. These two could possibly be the culprit, you will also likely see if you have installed almost any Safar extensionsi which might be causing the problem. But I might consider checking VMware vbox as well.
