Fix Palmpilot Error 0x7301

Over the past few days, some users have encountered Palm Pilot error 0x7301. This problem occurs for a number of reasons. We’ll cover them below.

The word “your PDA was unable to connect to the desktop” is certainly a common Palm error, meaning that the PDA cannot connect to your PC. Please note that this error only occurs on Palm with OS resources (such as Centro or Tungsten). This cannot happen with webOS devices like Pre or Pixi.

Look in the system tray (the right curve of your PC for the human clock); It will be an icon with blue and red arrows.
When the site is up and running, launch the Hotsync Manager from the Start Menu.

Right-click the Hotsync Manager generic icon in the physical pane; You should see a lot of “local” options.

Make sure HotSync works with Palm Desktop

Use Control Panel to uninstall Starts PalmPilot Link software.

Choose in HotSync Manager classic channels only

Make sure HotSync is running in the Windows schema pane.

Look for the following channels: Calendar Start (classic), Address Book Start (classic), Start (classic), Todo, and Memo Start (classic). They should all be set to “Synchronize some files” in the “Action” column.
All second “trigger” channels that are running rather than talking (classic) should be reset to “do nothing” in the action column.
When you’re done setting up this environment, click Finish.

Restart HotSync Manager

Right-click Most HotSync Managers on the taskbar of the local computer and select Exit. Restart HotSync Manager.
Open the Begins database, which was designed exclusively for synchronization with Palm PDAs. Retry HotSync.
