How To Fix Pidgin-ssl Msn Certificate Error

3. Delete everything that is in the server from the folder.Ficate.
4. Perhaps restart Pidgin and you will get a new working certificate.
P.S.: Windows users who don’t know% app-data% just type% appdata% . purple in the preview pane and press Enter.

Update. The new version of Pidgin (2.7.7) has definitely fixed this problem. For Windows users: uninstall the current version, download and select the latest version. For Ubuntu add the following PPA and change the add-apt-repository system repository:
sudo ppa: pidgin-developers / ppasudo apt-get up-date && sudo apt-get upgrade

1. Go to https://omega.contacts.msn.com/
2. Click the security padlock in the URL bar (usually just before the URL). Click Certificate Information.
3. Go to the “Details” tab and click the “Export” button. Save the omega.contacts.msn.com file (without the quotes).
4. Paste this file as text in
“/ Home / your-username / .purple / Certificates / x509 / tls_peers / omega.contacts.msn.com”. When prompted, select Replace to replace the current file.
That’s all. Open your pidgin again and the SSL certificate error goes away.
