When someone presses Enter, the System Configuration control panel opens. Then click on the “Startup” tab, which displays some computer programs that may be included or not suitable to run.

Here’s how to successfully use MSCONFIG in Windows 7 to get rid of some unnecessary software packages that are automatically loaded at startup. Disabling these programs will help your computer boot faster and freeze less often. In Windows 7, almost all important Windows programs are loaded by “Windows Services”. This assumes that most of the startup components you see in Windows 7 are in fact full featured and possibly extensible. However, a good rule of thumb is to only disable programs that you know you don’t need to run most of the time. When in doubt, leave this tool enabled. Or better yet, check out Paul “PacMan” Collins’ extensive list of “startup apps” at http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_search.php. Here are all the good examples. I installed an Apple Quicktime device on my computer. For some reason, Quicktime has decided that it should always work when my computer is running, even if I’m not using help. This is silly. To prevent Quicktime from starting automatically every time I start my computer, I ran MSCONFIG in addition to disabling “Quicktime”. That’s it.

When a program starts automatically, it is always because it offers a service that worksbetter when it is always running, such as an antivirus program. Or the software may be required to access special hardware features, such as those found in proprietary printer software.

Remember to only disable programs that we recognize and that shouldn’t be running all the time. If in doubt, leave it enabled.

    6. You will probably see a message that you need to restart your computer before most of these changes take effect. Click Restart and your computer will indeed restart automatically.

7.That’s it! Your computer should now boot faster and freeze less.

This document explains strategies for using msconfig to get rid of programs that can cause Windows startup problems.

    Context

When a good computer turns on and/or Windows starts loading, Windows also helps to load other programs. Some of these programs are necessary for your technology to function properly, while others provide or have convenience, and still others may serve a purpose entirely or even attempt to harm your computer.

Even though Windows itself ships with some of these launchers, most of them are created by the software installed on the computer. For example, installing iTunes on a computer should cause two additional programs to launch when the computer is turned on. It’s usually harder to get it to work Some of these additional programs, but as computers are used more and more, it becomes difficult to manage the number of programs that work with the computer, and the performance of the computer is greatly reduced.< /p>

Therefore, it is probably a good idea to disable some of these additional TV programs at startup. Disabling boot methods is done using a system utility, commonly referred to as config in the msconfig role.
