Hello everyone!

A recent scan revealed that pagefile.sys was infected with Win32: PcClient- on one of my hard drives (not the main one, but actually the file store). OD [Trj]. It is strange, no doubt, that my system should group the “Automatically manage paging file size on all drives” group, and I am not at all surprised by the presence of a paging file. Also, I have now manually compiled the swap files and set the disk to No – and I still get your warning.

After searching these sites, it turns out that they have the correct number of reports of spoofed paging files. Could he be here?

Drives: E:
Scan all files and content (carefully, but very slowly)
Test files
All packers

The restored paging file was E: pagefile.sys. My swap file was on my favorite main partition (C :).

While my problem seems to have been resolved for now, I’m still wondering what happened. Thoughts ?

After some research on these forums, it turned out that there are several false positives regarding swap files. Could this be one of our cases?

Instead of setting the paging file to No, I manually set it to the ideal size, restarted and rerun the scan. No viruses were found this time.

The pagefile.sys file is a little strange in that data is constantly paged out, so there may becases where a certain amount of data matches the signature of a laptop or computer.

No, I don’t think you need to do anything after adjusting the size. It wants to delete the file after restart.

You can set the “No paging data file” option for this partition / disk and click “Install”, which will completely delete the file after reboot, see the figure.
