Create A Recovery Disc For Windows XP

Make sure you still have the original Windows XP installation CD before proceeding.

This original installation CD can be used as a recovery drive that your company can use to run the Recovery Console (Command Utility) prompt to recover the primary computer.

From the console, you can run the bootcfg, chkdsk and news recovery commands.

If You Have An Original CD

When you receive your hard drive, do one of the following to open the Recovery Console:

• Insert an exact CD from opticalhard drive.
• Restart your own computer.
• Click “Welcome to Setup” R on your computer screen to load the Recovery Console.

• You must be logged in as an administrator or with product administrator rights. Do this and enter your master password.
• Press Enter
• The Recovery Console should now be readable.

If You Don’t Have Most Of The Original CDs

If you do not currently have the original Windows XP CD, someone can create a weak boot floppy.

You must be able to boot into Windows XP in order to create a boot floppy. Otherwise, if you are unable to enter Windows XP, go to the Windows XP bootable recovery disc.

First, make sure your weak hard drive is working properly. Your Windows XP computer should ben have the function of a floppy disk.

To create most Windows XP boot floppies, do the following:

• Run on Windows XP
• Insert most of the floppy disk into the floppy disk.
• Help your computer.
• Right click on the floppy drive. This is usually the A: reader.
• click format
• Enable the Create MS-DOS Boot Disk option under Format Options.
• Click Start.
• Wait for the end of the technique
• When done, avoid floppy disks due to weak disk.

After creating a recovery disc, follow these instructions every time you finally need to use it:

• Make sure the floppy disk is in write-protect mode.
• Insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk.
• Restart your computer.
• Follow these special instructions on the screen immediately after booting the system from the floppy disk.
