You don’t need easy access to localhost (and if your ISP thinks that’s how BIND works, they’re either ignorant or stupid: BIND serves what’s behind the zone file, and if the client removes the localhost, it will probably stop serving the entry). Since the free localhost example.google.com is not removed and I’m sure many NS domains have BIND running.
