xdcam files use several techniques in compressing video and media container formats. Videos are created using DV, MPEG-2 Part 2 or MPEG-4 compression schemes. DV is used for standard definition video, mpeg-2 is used generally for high definition and standard definition video, and MPEG-4 is for proxy video.

When editing an Adobe Premiere CS6 project based on XDCAM-EX footage (from EX3), I assumed that theDo enhance this footage in After Effects (where advanced enhancements are only available in Premiere). I thought it should be easy, you get the Dynamic Link functionality of the package in CS6.

I naively thought that After CS6 by Effect, on the downside of my system, couldn’t play XDCAM-EX. A quick Internet search (below) of the advertisements turned up articles about the video converter with human experience, which indicated that I was not the only one who had this problem. Then rebooted and used again. This time it worked. to meI was able to create AE projects both directly by importing photos (as mp4 files) into AE and using Premier Link Dynamic.

To import one or more footage items from the Media Browser into Adobe Premiere Pro, choose File > Import From Browser, drag the footage item from the Media Browser to the Project panel, or drag it directly from the Media Browser to the timeline.

Because I upgraded to CS6, After Effects XDCam can’t upgrade from my EX1. Displays premiere easily. But no matter if I try to make a direct import dynamic or a link, After Effects doesn’t show it. All I can imagine is colored stripes. Has anyone new had this problem and understood this tool?

Because XDCAM is not the best option for use in After Effects, the following tutorial shows how to edit Sony XDCAM HD MXF and IMX files that have been encoded into the preferred After Effects CS4/CS5/CS6 format.
