9. Here is an unusual find that may give a connoisseur a clue:
I set the share to Z: When I double-click on it, I get the message:
Z: is still not available.
The specified server will never be able perform the requested operation.
But Windows Explorer found in Win 7 shows it as the newest network drive with green indicator and displays free space as well as total space on that drive.
When I run Beyond Compare and point the product to Z: it gives a not-so-good error message and can see all the folders and files on someone’s disk, but cannot read, create, or delete them. So this view seems to have more permissions than my account, but not enough yet. be useful.
This is an old and unwelcome story, a problem with multiple definitions in the decision line. But I have looked through all of them and have not listed them for myself yet. Hopefully I’m someone who can make another suggestion.
I have good old Red Hat Linux that is used to run Samba, among other things (vsn.2.2.3a). My Vista and Win XP PCs can access the exact protected Samba folders, but the brand new 64-bit Windows Ultimate 7 PC can’t.
The workgroup LAN is everywhere, not the domain. UAC is now disabled.
I can see the known and shared directories of linux bocops on the “Net” from a Win 7 machine, but if it is you, I try to access the Samba share, it says, “ LX roy is definitely not available. agreed to “use this network resource.” Many. But XP and Vista boxes always have full access.
After every change I used, I restarted the 18m Win7 box. Here are the steps I took based on the topic suggestions here and elsewhere on the internet:
1. Start> RUN> Delete User Password 2> Advanced> Manage Passwords to make sure the LX roy password is correct and the same as used on XP and Vista computers. If I remove the password here, I cannot see the shared directories right in the Samba box – it asks for credentials. I give it a name and password, and then I can browse the shared directories. But every time I double click on one of them, I get a “not available …” message. Same name and same security password give me full access when typing in XP or Vista Box.
2.Using gpedit.msc> Local Computer Policy> Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Options>City Policies> Security Options> Microsoft Client Computer Network: Send unencrypted password sent by 3rd party SMB server: “Enabled”.
2 B. then Security: Determine the authentication level of the LAN manager: Send over LM and NTLM – Use NTLMv2 learning session security if negotiated.
2c. I will send “LM and NTLM Answer Attempts”. This seems to be a solution that works for a lot of people prior to this problem, but not for me.
2d. then further define network access: Authorization in addition to the security model for local accounts: Classic local – users are authenticated simply because they authenticate themselves.
2nd. Minimum session security for NTLM. Both ssp are set to “no minimum” to create both clients and servers.

3. I checked or changed these registry keys KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Lsa, and also noticed that LmCompatibilityLevel was already specified in (probably 1 in caseE 2).
3a. Due to another suggestion, I traded it for 2 … It didn’t make any difference.

4. I tried to make my Win 7 account the same as my Samba p / w account (the username was already the same). The same result.
5. I configured Windows XP Mode on a large virtual Windows PC because I (http: // social read.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprovirt/thread/e08c3500-a722-4b44 -b644 – 64f94f63c8e5 /) Give the share a push letter in Windows XP mode, this drive letter can become accessible also under Win7.
