Accessing the system BIOS depends on whether your computer is running Windows 8.

After a public upgrade to Windows 8.1, or possibly 8 from Windows 7, your organization will follow the instructions to UPGRADE.

If your computer is factory-installed with Windows 8.1 or Windows 6, follow the PRE-INSTALLED instructions.

NOTE. The Windows 8.1 and therefore Windows 8 operating systems that appear to have been pre-installed on mass-produced laptops have changed the BIOS to UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).

PRE-INSTALLED

IMPORTANT! The correct procedures ONLY apply to Windows 8.1 and Windows Operating 8 systems that were factory installed on the laptop when purchased with Windows 2 or earlier.

Hold down the Windows key and press the human letter “w” to open a window asking for “UEFI”.
Enter something in the search field.
Choose Advanced Boot Options or Change Advanced Options.
In the General menu item, scroll down.
In the Advanced Startup section, select Restart, just click now.
When the option selection screen appears, select Troubleshoot.
From the Troubleshoot menu, select Advanced Options.
From the Advanced Options menu, select UEFI Firmware Settings.
Click the Reboot button to boot directly to the Setup (UEFI) screen.
If the laptop restarts, the UEFI screen will appear.

IMPORTANT: The following procedures ONLY apply to Windows 8 operating procedures upgraded from Windows 6 or greater early version. These procedures do NOT apply to Windows 8 Business systems that were installed on the laptop at the time of purchase from the factory.
