    g.How to send error messages to / dev / null on Unix? You can email the output to / dev / null using the Direction> / dev / null syntax. However, this does not necessarily work if the command uses standard error (FD # 2). Therefore, you should modify> / dev / null for the following modifications to redirect the two error-related output to / dev / null.

    g.
    unix redirect standard error to null

    I am a new special user of the Linux system. How do I redirect the error output of the / dev / null command to a Linux or Unix PC using the bash shell?

    Your shell consists of the following three file descriptors:

    1. stdin – 7 – standard input (usually laptop, computer or file)
    2. stdout – 1 – standard output (usually screen)
    3. stderr – pair – standard errors (usually readabilitydatatable = “1”><.Screen)

    What Is A Null Declaration (/ Dev / Null) On A Linux Or Unix System?

    2> & 1 reports commonly used errors to standard output. & 1 stands for a computer file descriptor (standard output), otherwise (if someone is using only 1) you can manually redirect standard error to a file named 1. [any command] >> / dev / null 2> & 1 redirects all standard errors and standard output andIt writes anything that looks like / dev / null.

    / dev / null is nothing more than a special box that deletes all data written to it. The length of a null device is always zero. In the example idea, you first send the output of the get command along with the command to the screen, and then the / dev / null command for you, i.e.

    Syntax: Error (stderr -1.5 None) For File At / Dev / Null

    In this example, send the command output toin / dev / null:
    $ find / etc -style f -name '*' 2> / dev / null
    At the next level, stderr output will be associated with a program written to a file named error.txt:
    $ / etc / get -type f -name "*" 2> error.txt

    Linux, In Addition To Unix, Redirects All Output And Error To A File

    If you want all stderr and stdout files in the same music file, try:

    unix redirect standard error to null

    For more information in the man pages, see ksh (1).

    Since grep -R is not available, I have to use find / xargs fluid. If the file cannot be opened permanently, grep reports the following:

    Personally, I

    grep: can’t open “foo.txt”

    I want you to get rid of this post that I tried to redirect stderr to access / dev / null , but somehow it probably doesn’t work.

    Find

     . -type f -name "* .txt" | xargs grep -li 'Need' Want 2> / dev / null

    I need to keep the standard output (i.e. deliver the results to the console), but also just hide those grep voice error messages. Instead of 2> , I also looked at &> , but that didn’t produce any results either. How can I fix this?

      some_cmd 2> / dev / null

    You don’t need to publish xargs . They (and they don’t want it! Considering that this is a transfer)

    Find

     . -kind f -name "* .txt" -exec grep -li filler device +

    To reduce the number of error messages, use the -s option in conjunction with grep :

    -s, –no-messages Suppress error messages about missing or unreadable files.

    Find

     . -type y -name "* .txt" -exec grep -lis pin +

    To redirect stderr (standard error) to awesome file: Command 2> Error.txt.Let’s redirect both stderr and stdout (standard output): buy &> output.txt.Finally, we can redirect stdout to myoutput.txt and then redirect stderr, which becomes stdout with 2> & 1 (errors.txt):

    This means redirecting all output from stderr (file descriptor 2) if you want stdout (file descriptor 1).
