Hello!
I recently had to replace a business laptop and import a VirtualBox Gentoo guest, but it doesn’t work.Starts up. It only panics for IO-APIC:
Kernel Panic – no synchronization: IO-APIC + timer not working!
When I poke it into the “noapic” core, it crashes without much information.
Should I fix the problem or should I go back to a new Gentoo VM?
Thanks for your thoughts!

I have no experience with Virtualbox, but since your issue is kernel level, my 2c will probably reproduce this moment and keep the installed port treePackage knowledge. As an alternative, I would rebuild some virtual boxes into which, once launched, I’ll transfer the main porting tree environment, binary packages, and any additional data needed.
By the way, you don’t say much about the source and destination of the website host. It might be helpful if someone could help you fix the original kernel issue.
Thank you for your eyes, interest and support.

The rescue, Have you changed the CPU in general and the kernel of some VMs “strictly” on the same type of CPU? For example, did you set the processor family to express? In the case of Intel -> AMD, is AMD advertising included?
When creating virtual machines, I use the kernel as versatile as possible, but at the cost of less efficiency. This helps when moving from one CPU platform to another.
