      Hi, I’m new to both forums and I have an iPhone Touch @4 4g.1.
      When I try to upgrade to iOS 4.2.1, I get an error about 3194.

      I know, but editing the hosts file itself shouldn’t be enough?

      hosts entry only makes sense if if RedChirp says the ssh blob with the firmware is saved. since starting OP which was usually 4.and 1 your dog is updated i doubt they recorded drops of those SHSH, so you’ll have to decide to save your own firmware with a custom ipsw pwnage using Tool (Mac) / Sn0wbreeze (Windows) to get or upgrade to 4.3.2.

      The hosts file only redirects the request to Apple iTunes when it gives Apple the right to download that points to the firmware. For example hosting file markets on Cydia servers, you just need to store your SHSH blobs more.
