Compressing old files is a nice feature of the disk cleanup method (cleanmgr.exe) in Windows XP, but keep inmind that this does not delete any files. What’s really worth it, I am running Windows on an exclusive machine with minimal disk space allocated for “C:” (20 GB). I just enabled and cleared the Compress Old Files routine for the hard drive, I upgraded from 1.4 GB of free space if you want 4.22 GB, which was enough for my needs 🙂

This is usually an outdated technology.th is very rare on modern computers.
