Solution To Replace Shell32.dll In Windows XP

In this blog post, we will identify some possible causes that could cause shell32.dll to be replaced in Windows XP, and then suggest possible fixes that you can try to resolve.

Update 7/8/2010: The simplest and least replaceable explorer.exe, when combined with other system files, is to download a registry hacker program that adds to the context by right clicking the “Take ownership” option …
Download the script: Download TakeOwnership and double-click the data file. (register) to add the “Take Owner” option to your context menu (context menu).
Then you can right click on the system files and take ownership. Then you can rename all files and just replace the whole system / explorer.exe file.
Important: You may not be able to copy modified function files to the Windows system32 folder. I don’t know when this will expand, but if it happens to you, you just need to use the require line to copy the information (explained below).

This is often unnecessary, system32 is usually just the default directory.
We have verified the ownership of the file. But this is not enough! Now that we have got hold of most of the shell32.dll, we need to authorize our history to change the image. Or, you may receive an important error message: “You need permission to perform this action” when you try to rename the shell32.dll file.
Replace USERNAME in addition to your username. Enter your username exactly (I’m not sure if it’s almost case-sensitive, so make sure the owners understand it correctly).

Replace PATH_TO_MODIFIED_SHELL32.dll with the specified path to Shell32.dll. If you can’t get this to work, put the CD infolder and run this line like this:
Tips:
Close the control panel and all other windows. When a Windows specialist calls on shell32.dll, it cannot be replaced, so you must exit Process Explorer if you want to replace explorer.exe.
If you receive the error: Account names and security credentials were not mapped, make sure that the user exists normally and that you entered them correctly.

Replace Shell32.dll Via GUI (not Recommended)
Possible replacement for GUI Shell32.Via dll (graphical user interface). However, I highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the command line tool, which is arguably a little more complex.
1. Step. Open Windows Explorer (Windows + E).
Step 2 Go to the folder C: Windows System32 shell32.dll
Step 3 Right click on shell32.dll and select Properties
Step 4 goes to the safety of one eye.
Step 5 Press the “ Change “:

Step 7 Click Edit:
8. Step. Select your username and click Apply to take ownership of Shell32.dll:
9. Repeat steps 1 through 4 and go to the “Shell32.dll Security” tab.
10. Step. Select your username from the Other Groups, Usernames list and click Edit:
11. Select your username and check the “Full Control” box, then click “Apply”:
12. You now have the right to rename shell32.dll. Rename it!
13. Copy the custom shell32.dll to the system32 folder.
Important: MUST Read For Windows 7 64-bit Users
If you are using Windows 7 64-bit, you need to copy the Shell32 32 bit.dll file to the C: Windows sysWOW64 folder.
