To open Disk Cleanup on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer, follow these steps:
- Click Start.
- Open All Programs> Accessories> System Tools.
- Click Clean Up Disk.
- Under Files to Remove, select the type of additional files and folders you want to remove.
- Click OK.
- To remove procedural files that are largeOtherwise, click Clean up system files. Maybe you are
prompted by the UAC (User Control) account to confirm the action. - Click Delete Files.
- Under Programs and Features, click Clean to remove a software package that does not need files.
- Under System Restore and Shadow Copies, click Cleanup to remove any restore points other than the remaining ones.

If disk cleanup fails with some of the erasing methods (deleting temporary files or uninstalling Windows updates), try the following tips:
- Run Disk Cleanup as administrator.
- Manually delete files and directories, but log in as administrator. If Disk Cleanup allows you to get stuck temporarily deleting Internet Explorer files, manually delete the temporary information. If you do, log in as an administrator for each user with administrator rights.

sfc / scannow
